RCMP Commissioner Alleges Criminal Activities by Indian Agents in Canada
On October 14, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Commissioner Mike Duheme announced that they have information on criminal activities carried out by agents of the Indian government in Canada. He stated that law enforcement has investigated and charged individuals involved in violent crimes, including threats to the South Asian community and pro-Khalistan movement members.
Multi-Disciplinary Team Formed
In February 2024, the RCMP created a team to investigate these threats. The team discovered significant criminal activities orchestrated by Indian agents, posing a serious threat to public safety. Despite efforts, the harm continues, prompting the RCMP to confront the Indian government and inform the public.
Challenges in Collaboration
Duheme highlighted a violent extremist threat affecting Canada-India collaboration. Attempts to meet with Indian law enforcement were unsuccessful, leading to meetings with Indian officials to present evidence of Indian agents’ involvement in criminal activities.
India’s Response
India strongly rejected Canada’s claims, calling them part of a political agenda by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government. India accused Canada of supporting extremists who threaten Indian diplomats and community leaders.
