Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 30: Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja achieved a new landmark by becoming the seventh Indian bowler to pick 300-plus Test wickets. Jadeja reached this milestone on the fourth day of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur.

During Bangladesh’s first inning, Jadeja took one wicket and gave away 28 runs in his 9.2-over spell. He dismissed Khaled Ahmed for a four-ball duck in the 75th over. The 35-year-old also became the second quickest Indian bowler to reach 300 wickets, following Ravichandran Ashwin.

Jadeja made his Test debut in 2012 against England. Since then, he has played 73 matches and 138 innings, picking up 300 wickets at an economy rate of 2.47. He has also scored 3122 runs from 106 Test innings.

Recapping the match, India won the toss and opted to field first. The action stopped on day one at 107/3. No play took place on day two due to rain and on day three due to a wet outfield. Play resumed on day four, with Shadman Islam and Najmul Hossain Shanto making positive contributions for Bangladesh. Mominul Haque held the innings together with his 13th Test century, leading Bangladesh to a total of 233/10.

Jasprit Bumrah was the standout bowler for India with figures of 3/50. Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Akash Deep took two wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja took one.

India had previously won the first Test by 280 runs, setting a target of 515 runs for Bangladesh and bowling them out for 234. Key performances in that match came from Ravichandran Ashwin, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah. India leads the two-match Test series 1-0.
