Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 30: India’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, praised star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja after he achieved his 300th Test wicket in Kanpur on Monday. Jadeja reached this milestone by dismissing Bangladesh’s Khaled Ahmed. He is now one of 11 players to have scored over 3000 runs and taken 300 wickets in Test cricket, and the second quickest to do so after England’s Ian Botham.

Morkel expressed his admiration for Jadeja, calling him a ‘complete package’ who excels in batting, bowling, and fielding. ‘He is an X-Factor player and a guy you always want in your team,’ Morkel said during the post-day press conference.

The Test match, which lost two days to rain, saw an exciting fourth day with 437 runs scored and 18 wickets taken in just 85 overs. India set records for the fastest team to reach 50, 100, and 200 runs in a Test inning, led by skipper Rohit Sharma’s aggressive approach.

Morkel highlighted the team’s positive intent despite the lost days, noting their impressive run rate of 14-plus in the first three overs and 8.22 overall. ‘The way the boys went with the ball up front was incredible to see,’ Morkel added.

The day ended with Bangladesh at 26/2, still trailing by 26 runs.
