Randeep Surjewala Criticizes BJP and Mahayuti Ahead of Maharashtra Elections
With the Maharashtra elections just two days away, All India Congress General Secretary Randeep Surjewala held a press conference in Mumbai. He criticized the BJP, referring to them as the ‘Bhagoda Jutao’ company, and highlighted four main issues: Mumbai mortgage, Mahayuti’s gunraj and gundaraj, MMR’s Shinde, and Mahayuti’s ‘Mehangai’.
Mumbai Mortgage
Surjewala questioned how industrialist Adani became Mumbai’s biggest land developer. He mentioned that Adani now owns Mumbai Airport and a significant portion of the city’s electricity supply. Adani has been awarded 6,600 megawatts of electricity until 2049 and is involved in the Dharavi Development Project, owning 990 acres of land in Mumbai.
Mahayuti’s Gunraj and Gundaraj
Surjewala alleged that under Mahayuti, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region has become a hub of crime, citing the murder of political leader Baba Siddique by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He accused Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of protecting criminals.
Mahayuti and Mehangai
Surjewala criticized the awarding of contracts and tenders without proper procedures. He questioned the financial decisions involving toll collections and loans, asking how these benefit Mumbai and the MMR.
Upcoming Elections
Surjewala concluded by urging voters to consider these issues during the elections, emphasizing the need for correction and introspection.
