As the Maharashtra Assembly elections approach, Ramesh Chennithala, the state Congress incharge, has dismissed rumors of a rift within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. He assured that the opposition alliance is united and will announce its candidate list by Saturday evening.

Meetings to Resolve Issues

Chennithala, who attended the Congress’ Central Election Committee meeting in Delhi, stated that Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat will meet with Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and NCP-SP Chief Sharad Pawar to resolve any issues. He emphasized that the alliance is strong and ready to contest the elections together.

Seat-Sharing Agreement

The MVA has agreed on a seat-sharing arrangement for 255 constituencies, with each party contesting 85 seats. The remaining 23 seats will be allocated based on party candidate lists. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut confirmed this agreement.

Election Preparations

Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition MVA are intensifying their preparations for the elections, which will be held on November 20, with counting on November 23. The BJP, part of the Mahayuti alliance, won 105 seats in the 2019 elections, while the Shiv Sena and Congress secured 56 and 44 seats, respectively.
