Rakesh Tikait Predicts BJP Defeat in Haryana Elections

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will lose the Haryana assembly elections. He attributed this to the government’s actions against farmers, stating, “The government which does lathicharge, will not stay in power.” Tikait believes that farmers will express their discontent through their votes, leading to a Congress victory.

Recent exit polls support Tikait’s prediction, indicating a strong performance by the Congress party. The TV-Today C voter projection suggests Congress may win 50-58 seats, while BJP could secure 20-28 seats. Other parties might win 10-16 seats. The Republic TV-Matrize poll forecasts Congress winning 55-62 seats, with BJP getting 18-24 seats. People Pulse poll survey estimates Congress at 44-54 seats, BJP at 15-29, and others at 4-9 seats. Dainik Bhaskar and Dhruv Research polls also predict a Congress lead.

The elections in Haryana were conducted in a single phase across 90 constituencies, with over 20,000 polling stations. The voter turnout was recorded at 65.65%, surpassing the Lok Sabha 2024 turnout of 64.8% in the state.
