Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Votes in Jharkhand Assembly Elections
On Wednesday, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh participated in the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections by casting his vote in Ranchi. After voting, he emphasized the importance of elections in a democracy, stating, “Voting is the strength of a democracy. Through elections, we choose our representatives who later work for the welfare of society and the country.” He also mentioned that Jharkhand is still striving to achieve the dreams for which it was formed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged all voters in Jharkhand to participate enthusiastically in the elections. The polling began at 7:00 a.m. and involves 43 constituencies across 15 districts. The results will affect 683 candidates, including 73 women. Security has been heightened with over 200 companies of security forces deployed to ensure a smooth electoral process.
The BJP-led NDA is challenging the JMM-led coalition, with notable candidates like former Chief Minister Champai Soren and Congress leader Ajoy Kumar. In Jaganathpur, BJP’s Geeta Koda is contesting against Congress leader Sona Ram Sinku. The JMM has fielded Mahua Maji from Ranchi. The remaining constituencies will vote on November 20, with results announced on November 23. In the last elections, JMM won 30 seats, BJP 25, and Congress 16.
