Vice President and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankhar, emphasized the need for the government to examine and present the Shah Commission report, which relates to the ‘darkest period of Indian democracy.’ This call came after BJP member Deepak Prakash demanded the report be made public during the zero hour.

Dhankhar stated, ‘The report relates to the darkest period of Indian democracy; the government must examine the authentic report and place it on the table of the House.’

The Shah Commission was appointed to investigate the excesses during the Emergency period (1975-77) imposed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

In another discussion, AAP MP Raghav Chadha alleged state-sponsored spyware attacks, which MoS (Electronics and IT) Jitin Prasada denied, stating that the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) is in touch with Apple for information.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized the UPA government for not implementing the Swaminathan report, accusing them of political motives. This led to an uproar in the Lok Sabha, causing an adjournment till 12.30 pm.

Janata Dal (United) MP and Union Minister Rajiv Lalla Singh defended the NDA alliance, saying it is strong and ‘glued by Fevicol.’ He urged the opposition to accept the NDA’s majority for peace of mind.
