Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar Welcomes New Session After Elections

New Delhi [India], June 27: Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has welcomed members to the 264th session of Rajya Sabha. He emphasized the importance of democracy, dialogue, discussion, deliberations, and debate. This session follows the recent Lok Sabha and assembly elections in four states.

Dhankhar congratulated the 61 newly elected members of Rajya Sabha and encouraged them to contribute towards the aspirations of the people. He stated, “While exercising their franchise, the people of Bharat, the largest democracy in the world, have expressed their faith in our democratic polity and the values that underpin our Republic.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced his Council of Ministers in the Rajya Sabha amid applause. He had previously introduced them in the Lok Sabha after the election of the Speaker. Key leaders like JP Nadda, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Sonia Gandhi were present in the House.

The 264th session of Rajya Sabha began on Thursday, and earlier in the day, President Droupadi Murmu addressed a joint sitting of the two Houses of Parliament.
