Raju Barman Arrested for Murder of Tripura Club Secretary Vicky
Raju Barman, the main suspect in the murder of Tripura’s Bharat Ratna Sangha Club Secretary Durga Prasanna Deb, also known as Vicky, was taken into police custody for eight days. He was arrested in Guwahati, Assam, and brought back to Tripura.
Details of the Arrest
Special Public Prosecutor Sankar Lodh shared that Barman was caught in Guwahati and brought before the Chief Judicial Magistrate in West Tripura, who ordered his police custody until July 20. The police had requested a 10-day custody, but the court granted eight days.
Background of the Case
Lodh explained that Barman killed Vicky in a pre-planned scheme to take control of the Bharat Ratna Sangha Club. Barman was extradited to Tripura under tight security and transported from the airport to Agartala.
Family’s Demand for Justice
Vicky’s wife demanded the death penalty for Barman, stating that he had previously threatened them with guns and could kill again if released. She urged the government to ensure the harshest punishment for Barman and his accomplices.
