DefConnect 4.0: A Step Forward in India’s Defence Innovation

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to inaugurate DefConnect 4.0 in Delhi, an event aimed at boosting indigenous innovation in India’s defence sector. Organized by Innovations for Defence Excellence – Defence Innovation Organisation (iDEX-DIO) under the Ministry of Defence, the event will take place at the Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantonment.

Event Highlights

DefConnect 4.0 will gather armed forces, defence public sector undertakings, innovators, and policymakers to discuss advancements in indigenous innovation. A Technology Showcase will allow iDEX innovators to present their cutting-edge technologies and products.

Significance of DefConnect 4.0

This event marks a milestone in India’s defence innovation journey, bringing together various stakeholders such as industry leaders, start-ups, academia, and investors. The aim is to foster collaboration and dialogue to drive innovation forward.

Interactive Sessions and Announcements

The event will feature launches and announcements by the Defence Minister, along with interactive sessions with industry leaders. A themed session will focus on recent budget announcements and initiatives in the semiconductor domain.

iDEX’s Role in Defence Innovation

Since its launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, iDEX has launched 11 editions of Defence India Start-up Challenges, receiving over 9,000 applications. It collaborates with more than 450 start-ups and MSMEs, contributing to the vision of a developed India by 2047.
