Rajnath Singh Responds to Claims About Agniveer Ajay Kumar’s Compensation

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to the welfare of Agniveers. This statement came after social media posts claimed that compensation had not been paid to the family of Agniveer Ajay Kumar, who lost his life in the line of duty.

The Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) clarified that Rs 98.39 lakhs had already been paid to Ajay Kumar’s family, with an additional Rs 67 lakhs to follow after final account settlement and police verification. The total compensation will amount to approximately Rs 1.65 crore.

Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused Defence Minister Rajnath Singh of lying about the compensation in Parliament and demanded an apology. Gandhi shared a video of Ajay Kumar’s father, who claimed that despite Singh’s statements, his family had not received the promised compensation. Gandhi called for the reinstatement of regular recruitment and the cessation of the Agniveer scheme.
