In New Delhi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the importance of understanding new technologies used in wars. He highlighted that not only traditional weapons but also civilian technologies are being weaponized. Singh launched the second edition of Acing Development of Innovative Technologies with iDEX (ADITI 2.0) and the 12th edition of Defence India Start-up Challenges (DISC 12) at DefConnect 4.0 held at Manekshaw Centre.

Innovative Technologies in Defence

Singh urged innovators to creatively use technological advancements for national defense. He praised DefConnect for fostering innovation in the defense sector, stating it energizes the defense industrial ecosystem and involves national talent in strengthening security.

Achievements and Government Support

Singh noted that 26 products have been developed under iDEX, with procurement orders exceeding Rs 1,000 crore. Additionally, proposals worth over Rs 2,380 crore have been issued for 37 products. He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing private sector involvement in defense to achieve self-reliance.

Private Sector Participation

Since 2014, the government has focused on increasing private sector participation in defense, identifying it as crucial for self-reliance. Singh highlighted the synergy between public and private sectors, exemplified by DefConnect, and promised full government support for a strong, self-reliant defense sector.
