On August 15, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hoisted the national flag at his official residence in Delhi. This event took place ahead of the grand Independence Day celebration at the Red Fort in the national capital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver his 11th consecutive speech to the nation from the Red Fort. Several important figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, have arrived at the Red Fort to attend the 78th Independence Day celebrations.

Special Guests and Decorations

The Red Fort has been beautifully decorated with flowers in the colors of the national flag. Around 6,000 special guests from various walks of life, including youth, tribal communities, farmers, and women, have been invited to witness the celebrations. These guests have excelled in various fields with the help of government schemes and initiatives.

Union Ministers and Olympic Contingent

Union Ministers like Giriraj Singh, Mansukh Mandaviya, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with the Indian Olympic contingent, will also be attending the event. Union Minister for Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chouhan extended his best wishes to all citizens and paid tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence.

Theme and Participation

This year’s theme for Independence Day is ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047,’ aiming to transform India into a developed nation by 2047. The celebrations will see participation from students, volunteers, tribal artisans, and many others who have benefited from various government programs.

Nearly 2,000 people from different states and union territories, dressed in traditional attire, have been invited. Additionally, 3,000 winners of online competitions and 2,000 cadets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force will participate, forming the ‘My Bharat’ logo with tricolor kits. A total of 500 National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers will also take part in the celebrations.
