Rajnath Singh Advocates ‘One-Nation, One Election’ in Jharkhand Rally
In a recent election rally in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh criticized the ruling JMM-led alliance for allegedly spreading falsehoods during the assembly polls campaign. He strongly supported the idea of ‘one-nation, one election’, emphasizing that it would save public money.
Singh highlighted the frequent elections in India, which he claimed result in the expenditure of large amounts of public funds. He accused opposition parties of being indifferent to this issue, while praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for addressing it. Singh explained that simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha, state assemblies, and local bodies would be more economical.
The Union Cabinet, led by PM Modi, accepted recommendations from a High-Level Committee chaired by former President Ram Nath Kovind. The committee suggested holding Lok Sabha and assembly elections together, with local body elections following within 100 days, and using a common electoral roll.
Singh also expressed concern over the declining tribal population in Jharkhand, which he said has decreased from 52% to about 28%. He urged voters to support the BJP, citing the party’s welfare initiatives, including efforts to assist the Indian diaspora and students abroad.
He mentioned the evacuation of Indian students from Ukraine during the conflict, facilitated by PM Modi’s discussions with Ukrainian and Russian leaders. Singh promised that a BJP-led government would enact laws to reclaim land from ‘infiltrators’, provide Rs 2100 monthly to women, and create 5 lakh jobs in five years.
