Rajiv Jasrotia Welcomed in Kathua as BJP Candidate for Jasrota Assembly
Rajiv Jasrotia, a former minister and BJP candidate for the Jasrota assembly constituency in Kathua, received a warm welcome upon his return from New Delhi. His candidacy was announced on August 27 for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.
BJP supporters celebrated with a rally, dancing, and firecrackers. They gathered at Dr Shyama Parshad Mukherjee Chowk, offering flowers to his statue and seeking blessings.
Jasrotia highlighted the importance of this election, being the first since the abrogation of Article 370. He stated, “The people of J&K have decided to elect a Chief Minister from the Bharatiya Janata Party.” He also criticized Congress for its alliance with the National Conference, questioning their stance on national unity.
The Election Commission has announced that 24 seats will be contested in the first phase, with results to be counted on October 4. This election marks the first assembly poll since the abrogation of Article 370, with multi-cornered contests expected on most seats.
