Rajinder Khanna Becomes Additional NSA, TV Ravichandran Appointed Deputy NSA

TV Ravichandran, who was the Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau, has been appointed as the new Deputy National Security Advisor (NSA). He replaces Rajinder Khanna, who is now the Additional NSA.

The official notification was issued by the centre on Tuesday, following the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. Ravichandran, an IPS officer from the 1990 batch, will serve for two years, initially up to his retirement in August 2024.

Rajinder Khanna, a 1978-batch IPS officer from the Odisha cadre, previously served as the chief of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) from December 2014 to December 2016. He was appointed Deputy NSA in January 2018, overseeing the Technology and Intelligence section.

The National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with NSA Ajit Doval as its secretary, is the top body for all security-related matters in India.
