Rajib Bhattacharjee Wins Rajya Sabha By-Polls in Tripura

Agartala (Tripura) [India], September 3: Rajib Bhattacharjee, the president of the Tripura Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has won the Rajya Sabha by-polls. He received 47 out of 60 votes and expressed his commitment to the development of Tripura.

Bhattacharjee thanked the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from the BJP, Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), and Tripura Motomati Party (TMP) for their support. He also extended his gratitude to the Bharatiya Janata Party for their trust in him.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha stated that Bhattacharjee would address issues concerning Tripura in the Rajya Sabha and work towards the state’s development. Bhattacharjee contested on a BJP ticket, and CM Saha, along with other MLAs, attended the election.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Tripura State Committee had fielded former MLA Sudhan Das for the by-election. The seat became vacant after Biplab Kumar Deb resigned to contest and win the West Tripura Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 general elections.
