Rajeev Shukla Urges PM to Visit Manipur, Comments on Haryana and Himachal Politics
Congress General Secretary Rajeev Shukla stated that the opposition has no objection to the Prime Minister’s visit to Russia but emphasized the need for him to address the violence in Manipur. Shukla said, “We have no objection to PM going to Russia. PM’s visit was already proposed. But we have been continuously demanding in Parliament that he should go to Manipur. Why is North East being neglected? He should go there.”
Earlier, Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi visited Imphal to meet the victims of violence at the relief camps in the state.
Shukla also commented on Kiran Chaudhury’s exit from the Haryana Congress, noting her 30-year tenure with the party. “Kiran Chaudhary was in Congress for 30 years but now she is speaking against Congress,” he said. Chaudhury, the daughter-in-law of former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal, recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Addressing the political crisis in Himachal Pradesh, Shukla mentioned that six MLAs had quit the party, with four losing subsequent elections. “Our MLAs were broken through money power in Himachal. Out of 6, 4 MLAs have lost the elections. BJP has ruined their political career,” he said, adding that Congress aims to win the upcoming by-elections in the state.
Shukla criticized the Aam Aadmi Party for the poor law and order situation in Punjab, stating, “The law and order situation in Punjab is bad. The Punjab government will have to fix it. This will increase resentment among the public.”
