On Wednesday, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari presented the budget for the financial year 2024-25. The budget outlines the BJP government’s action plan to transform Rajasthan into a developed state by 2047 under the Amrit Kalkhand initiative.

Financial Overview

The estimated revenue for the financial year 2024-25 is Rs 2.64 lakh crore, while the estimated expenditure is Rs 2.90 lakh crore.

Key Initiatives

  • Development of basic amenities like water, electricity, and roads.
  • Human resource development and planned development of rural and urban areas.
  • Empowerment of farmer families and development of MSMEs and big industries.
  • Heritage conservation and development, Green Rajasthan, and health for all.
  • Social security for deprived families and good governance with perform, reform, and transform.

Infrastructure Projects

The government plans to develop nine Green Field Expressways spanning over 2750 kilometers and construct a road network of 53000 kilometers in five years, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 60000 crore. A Lok Parivahan Sewa will be started to improve connectivity in the state.

Drinking Water and Job Creation

The Amrut 2.0 scheme will allocate Rs 5,180 crore to 183 settlements for drinking water facilities. The budget also prioritizes job creation for youths, renewable energy, and improved rural connectivity.

Sports and Electricity

To encourage athleticism, a Sports Life Insurance Scheme of approximately Rs 25 lakh will be introduced. The government aims to provide electricity to every house and agricultural field with the slogan ‘Har Ghar-Har Khet Bijli’.

Tourism and Education

The famous tourist and religious site Khatu Shyam will be developed with an allocation of Rs 100 crore. Investments will also be made in electrification and education, alongside a new sports policy to promote athletic development.

Diya Kumari stated that the budget has been prepared with all sections in mind, aiming to meet the expectations of the people. BJP leader Rajendra Rathore highlighted the vision of Rajasthan’s development till 2047, emphasizing the creation of assets and infrastructure.
