Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma and PM Modi Celebrate 78th Independence Day

On August 15, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma hoisted the national flag at his residence to celebrate the 78th Independence Day. In New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also hoisted the national flag at Red Fort for the 11th consecutive time.

After hoisting the Tricolour, PM Modi received a ‘Rashtriya Salute’ from the Punjab Regiment Military band, which played the National Anthem. The band was led by Subedar Major Rajinder Singh.

PM Modi shared his Independence Day greetings on X, saying, “Independence Day greetings to my fellow Indians. Jai Hind!”

Upon his arrival at Red Fort, PM Modi was welcomed by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, MoS Defence Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane. The Defence Secretary introduced Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of Delhi Area, to the Prime Minister.

The GoC conducted PM Modi to the Saluting Base, where a combined Inter-Services and Delhi Police Guard presented a general salute. PM Modi then inspected the Guard of Honour, which included one officer and 24 personnel each from the Army, Air Force, and Delhi Police.

After the flag hoisting, PM Modi delivered his customary address to the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort. He paid tribute to the countless ‘Azaadi ke deewane’ who sacrificed for the nation, stating, “This country is indebted to them.” This marked PM Modi’s 11th consecutive Independence Day address.
