On November 10, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma held a roadshow in Dausa to support BJP candidate Jagmohan Meena for the upcoming Assembly by-elections. The event saw CM Sharma in an open jeep, accompanied by Meena, with a large crowd of BJP supporters waving flags and holding party posters.

By-Elections in Rajasthan

The by-elections in Rajasthan are scheduled for November 13, with results to be announced on November 20. These elections cover seven seats: Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, Khinwsar, Chorasi, Salumbar, and Ramgarh. The by-polls were called due to the death of two MLAs and the election of five others to the Lok Sabha.

Political Landscape

In the Rajasthan Assembly, the BJP holds 114 seats, while Congress has 65. Other parties include the Bharat Adivasi Party with three seats, the Bahujan Samaj Party with two, Rashtriya Lok Dal with one, and eight independents. The Congress has fielded Deendayal Bairwa against Meena in Dausa.

Election Candidates

Rajasthan Chief Election Officer Naveen Mahajan reported that 69 candidates, including 10 women, are contesting in the by-elections. Initially, 94 candidates submitted nominations by October 25. In Dausa and Khinwsar, 12 candidates each are competing, while Salumbar has six candidates in the race.
