Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed happiness over the selection of seven players from the state in the Indian Lacrosse team. He emphasized the government’s dedication to promoting sports culture and supporting tribal welfare.

Selection and Training

Sharma announced that seven players from Rajasthan, including four girls from tribal communities, have been selected for the Indian Lacrosse team. These players are currently training in Agra for international competition.

Achievements and Future Plans

Out of the total 12 players in the Indian Lacrosse team, seven are from Rajasthan, which is a significant achievement for the state. These players were selected based on their excellent performance in the First National Lacrosse Championship, where Rajasthan won the gold medal.

The players are set to travel to Samarkand, Uzbekistan, for the Lacrosse Asian Championship. Additionally, 15 male lacrosse players are also being trained and housed in a sports hostel.

Financial Support

Financial assistance for the training of these players has been provided by Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Limited (RSMML). The players received housing and financial aid in the tribal sports hostel, which facilitated their entry into the Asian Games.

Government’s Commitment

The state government aims to establish two Tribal Sports Hostels/Academies for lacrosse, one for boys and one for girls, as the sport is being included in the upcoming Olympics.
