Rajasthan BJP Leader Kirodi Lal Meena Resigns After Election Defeat
Rajasthan BJP leader Kirodi Lal Meena has resigned from the state cabinet and all posts following the BJP’s loss in several parliamentary seats, including Dausa. Meena, a two-time Lok Sabha MP, stated that it was his moral duty to step down as he had promised during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections campaign.
Govind Singh Dotasara’s Criticism
State Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasara criticized the BJP leadership, alleging that some seats were given to candidates without the support of the party’s top brass. He questioned how the party could expect to win those seats under such circumstances.
Meena’s Statement
Meena explained, “I announced that if I won’t be able to make my party win, I’ll resign, and I have done that. It is my moral duty that I should resign if my party doesn’t win.” Despite the Chief Minister rejecting his resignation, Meena sent it by post and plans to visit Delhi to discuss the matter with the party’s High Command.
Election Results
In the recent parliamentary elections, the Congress-led NDA block won eight of the 25 seats, while the BJP secured 14 seats in Rajasthan. In the Dausa Lok Sabha seat, Congress’s Murari Lal Meena defeated BJP’s Kanhaiya Lal Meena by over 2.3 lakh votes.
