Chennai Meteorological Centre’s Forecast
The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has announced that rainfall is expected to continue over parts of Tamil Nadu throughout the week. This is due to a well-marked low-pressure area over the Arabian Sea and a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.
Weather Systems in Play
According to S Balachandran, Director of the Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre, the low-pressure area in the east-central Arabian Sea and the cyclonic circulation near the Tamil Nadu coast are influencing the weather. These systems are expected to persist, with the Arabian Sea likely to develop into a depression in the next two to three days.
Rainfall Predictions
Rainfall activities are expected to continue for a week, with heavy rainfall anticipated in some northern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu. Moderate rainfall is likely in many areas, with specific forecasts for interior and adjoining districts to be provided later. On October 13th and 14th, heavy rainfall is expected in the north coastal regions, particularly in the delta districts and Chennai.
Fishermen Warnings
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the south Tamil Nadu, Gulf of Mannar, Kerala coast, Karnataka coast, and East Central Arabian Sea due to the low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea, which is expected to develop further.
