The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall in Himachal Pradesh for the next few hours. Districts like Bilaspur, Una, Harimpur, Solan, and Kangra are expected to experience thunderstorms and lightning. Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, and Solan will also see light rainfall.

On September 9, a red alert was issued for Odisha due to a deep depression near Puri. Manorama Mohanty, Director of IMD Bhubaneswar, stated that the depression is likely to cross the Odisha coast near Puri. Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in districts such as Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Boudh, Balangir, and Puri, including Malkangiri, over the next 24 hours. Malkangiri recorded the highest rainfall of 253 mm in the last 24 hours.

Mohanty also warned of potential landslides and flood-like situations in Malkangiri’s hilly areas. Fishermen are advised to avoid deep sea areas until September 11. The seasonal cumulative rainfall from June 1 to September 9 is 908.6 mm, slightly below the normal value of 1001.1 mm.
