Rain Stops Play on Day 2 of India vs Bangladesh Test Match in Kanpur

The second day of the Test match between India and Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur was abandoned due to rain. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the cancellation on social media, stating, ‘Play has been called off for Day 2 due to rains.’

Earlier, the Indian team left the stadium as the rain delayed the start of the day’s play. Players were seen departing in their team bus.

If India does not secure a win in this Test, their path to the ICC World Test Championship final in the UK could become more challenging. They would need to win upcoming series against New Zealand and Australia by larger margins.

India currently leads the ICC World Test Championship standings with seven wins, two losses, and one draw in ten matches. The first day of the Test was also affected by rain, with Bangladesh scoring 107/3 in 35 overs. Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten at 40 and 6 runs, respectively.

Indian pacer Akash Deep had a strong start on day one, taking two wickets early. Ravichandran Ashwin also contributed by dismissing Bangladesh’s skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto.

India had won the first Test by 280 runs, with notable performances from Ravichandran Ashwin, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah. India is currently leading the two-match Test series 1-0.
