Rain Brings Relief to Delhi: IMD Predicts More Showers in Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh

Delhi experienced a pleasant evening on Wednesday as rains brought relief from the heat and humidity. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported moderate to intense rainfall over parts of Delhi-NCR and advised people to avoid routes prone to water logging.

The IMD posted on its official X handle, ‘Moderate to intense spell of rain over parts of Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas.’ They warned that the rainfall could cause slippery roads, low visibility, traffic disruptions, and localized water logging in low-lying areas. People were advised to check for traffic congestion and stay updated with weather warnings.

The IMD also predicted heavy rainfall in Haryana and Chandigarh regions, stating, ‘Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi is very likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) on July 3, 2024.’

Additionally, moderate to intense rainfall (1-3 cm/hr) is expected over Central and South Delhi and adjoining areas of Gurugram and Faridabad in the next 2 hours. The IMD explained the different rainfall intensities, ranging from light (1 cm/hour) to cloud burst (greater than 10 cm/hour).
