Railway Official Arrested for Bribery in Gonda
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a railway official in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. The official, an SSE at the P.Way, Truck Depot of Indian Railways, was caught red-handed on November 13. The arrest followed a complaint filed on November 11, alleging that the official demanded a bribe of Rs 100 per ton for loading materials from the Railway Material Depot. Over the past two months, approximately 500 tons of materials were loaded, and the official threatened to obstruct the complainant’s work and cancel the ongoing tender if the bribe was not paid. The accused will be presented before the Special Judge at the Anti-Corruption CBI Court in Lucknow. Searches are ongoing at the accused’s premises, and further investigation is underway.
