Virtual Meeting Led by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

On Thursday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw held a virtual press meeting from Rail Bhawan in New Delhi. The meeting included Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM K Pawan Kalyan, and Union Minister for Civil Aviation K. Ram Mohan Naidu. The focus was on key railway projects in Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing safety and modernization.

New Rail Line Details

The new rail line will connect Amaravati to major cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Kolkata. It will pass through NTR Vijayawada, Guntur districts in Andhra Pradesh, and Khammam district in Telangana. The project includes a 57 km line between Errupalem and Namburu via Amaravati, costing Rs.2,245 crore, and is expected to be completed in four years, creating 19 lakh man-days of employment.

Environmental and Economic Benefits

The project will reduce CO2 emissions by 6 Crore Kg, equivalent to planting 25 lakh trees, and improve connectivity to holy sites and ports. A 3.2-kilometre bridge over the Krishna River is also planned. This initiative supports India’s climate goals and reduces logistics costs.

Press Conference Highlights

Following the virtual meeting, a press conference was held at the Divisional Conference Hall in Vijayawada. P.E. Edwin, ADRM, Infrastructure, called the project a landmark moment for Andhra Pradesh, enhancing connectivity and economic growth. He thanked the Railway Minister and Chief Minister for their support and highlighted the technical competence of the workforce to complete the project on time.
