Rahul Shrivastava Appointed as India’s High Commissioner to Namibia
Rahul Shrivastava, a distinguished member of the Indian Foreign Service from the 1999 batch, has been appointed as the new High Commissioner of India to Namibia. The Ministry of External Affairs announced this appointment, and Shrivastava is expected to assume his duties soon. He expressed his eagerness to serve Indians in Namibia, often referred to as the ‘Land of the Brave’.
In a social media post, Shrivastava shared his journey from serving in South America, Asia, and Europe, to now Africa. He previously served as the Ambassador of India to Romania, Moldova, and Albania, and before that, to Venezuela. His extensive diplomatic career also includes assignments in India, Russia, the UK, and Kazakhstan.
India and Namibia share a strong and friendly relationship, with Namibia viewing India as a reliable ally. India has supported Namibia in various ways, including a recent shipment of 1000 metric tons of rice to help boost Namibia’s food security amidst drought conditions. This gesture underscores India’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
