Rahul Gandhi’s Speech Sparks Controversy in Parliament

New Delhi [India], July 2: Rahul Gandhi’s first speech as Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha on Monday led to heated debates. BJP MP Dilip Saikia accused Gandhi of attacking Hindu culture and demanded an apology. Saikia said, “Rahul Gandhi should apologize to all those who believe in Sanatana Dharma.”

BJP MP Jagdambika Pal added, “The whole country is hurt…was he speaking like a LoP inside the Parliament? It seemed as if he was speaking on the road…”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also criticized Gandhi, stating, “Calling the entire Hindu community violent is a very serious matter.” Home Minister Amit Shah demanded an apology from Gandhi.

During his speech, Gandhi criticized the BJP-led government over the Agniveer scheme, NEET-UG controversy, and other issues. He claimed that Agniveers, who serve for four years, do not receive a pension and are not called ‘martyrs’ if they die in service. Gandhi also stated that the Congress symbol, ‘Abhayamudra,’ represents fearlessness and safety, contrasting it with what he described as the BJP’s promotion of violence and hatred.

The debate continued in Rajya Sabha, with BJP members objecting to Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks accusing PM Modi of divisive speeches.
