On a busy Tuesday, Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi chaired a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting in Raebareli. These meetings occur quarterly under the MP’s leadership. Earlier, he inaugurated the newly-built Shaheed Chowk and Degree College Chauraha. He also visited Shri Peepaleshwar Mahadevji Mandir and Hanuman Mandir to offer prayers. Rahul Gandhi, who won the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat in 2024 by 390,030 votes, is on a one-day visit to the district. He will also inaugurate roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Hyderabad Visit
Later, Rahul Gandhi will travel to Hyderabad to discuss the caste survey initiated by the Telangana state government with intellectuals and stakeholders. Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar explained that this is the first caste survey in Telangana, with each enumerator assigned 150 houses to survey. The survey is scheduled from November 6 to November 30, fulfilling an election promise. The Congress party has consistently advocated for a nationwide caste census, calling it a “progressive and significant step.”
