During his visit, Rahul Gandhi went to the Jiribam Higher Secondary School relief camp, where he offered support to the victims of violence. The Congress party shared on social media that this is his third visit to Manipur since the violence began, demonstrating his commitment to the people’s cause.

Later, Rahul Gandhi will visit the relief camp at Sadbhavna Mandap in Tuibong, Churachandpur district. Earlier in the day, he visited Assam to meet flood-affected victims at a relief camp in Fulertal, Lakhipur. The violence in Manipur started on May 3 last year during a rally organized by the All Tribals Students Union (ATSU) to protest against the inclusion of the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe category. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently stated that the central government is making continuous efforts to normalize the situation in Manipur. Over 11,000 FIRs have been registered and more than 500 people have been arrested. The Prime Minister also mentioned that schools, colleges, offices, and other institutions are now open, and the government is engaging with all stakeholders to restore peace.
