Rahul Gandhi Visits Hathras Stampede Victims, Urges Compensation

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi visited the families affected by the Hathras stampede on Friday and urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to provide fair compensation for the victims. The stampede occurred on July 2 at a religious ‘Satsang’ event in Fulari village, claiming 121 lives.

Meeting the Families

Rahul Gandhi met with the bereaved families and expressed his condolences. He emphasized the need for compensation and criticized the lack of police presence at the event. Gandhi was accompanied by Congress leader Kunwar Danish Ali, who described the victims’ stories as heart-wrenching.

Victims’ Accounts

One family member recounted the lack of arrangements for the ‘Satsang’, which led to the stampede. Another described how the rush to touch the preacher’s feet caused the chaos. A father who lost his six-year-old son shared his grief and said Gandhi assured them of all possible help.

Government Response

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the site and announced a judicial probe. A three-member Judicial Inquiry Commission, chaired by Justice (retd) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava, will investigate the incident and submit a report within two months.
