Rahul Gandhi Visits Hathras After Tragic Stampede, Urges Compensation for Victims
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari has held the organisers and administration responsible for the tragic stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, which resulted in 121 deaths. He stressed the importance of consoling the affected families and understanding how the incident occurred.
Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Congress party, visited the families of the victims. He first stopped in Aligarh before reaching Hathras, where he expressed his condolences and learned about the victims’ situations. Gandhi urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to provide fair compensation to the affected families.
The stampede happened during a religious ‘Satsang’ event led by self-styled godman Suraj Pal alias ‘Bhole Baba’ in Fulari village. The chaos ensued when devotees tried to collect soil from the preacher’s feet and were stopped by security personnel.
A three-member Judicial Inquiry Commission, chaired by Justice (retd) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava, has been established to investigate the incident. The Commission is expected to submit its report within two months.
