Rahul Gandhi Visits Assam Amid Flood Crisis, Pabitra Margherita Responds

Karimganj (Assam) [India], July 9: During his visit to Assam, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the state government for its handling of the severe flood situation. He expressed his condolences to the affected families and highlighted the need for better flood management.

Union Minister Pabitra Margherita responded by urging the Congress not to spread political discord in the peaceful region. He emphasized the ongoing efforts under Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to provide flood relief.

Rahul Gandhi called for a comprehensive approach to flood management, including immediate relief and long-term solutions like a pan-Northeast water management authority. He also urged the central government to provide swift support to Assam.

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) submitted a memorandum to Rahul Gandhi, stressing the need for both short-term and long-term flood management strategies. The recent floods have caused significant damage, displacing thousands and resulting in numerous casualties.
