Rahul Gandhi Urges PM Modi to Visit Manipur and Listen to the People

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Manipur and listen to the problems of the people. Gandhi, who has visited the state three times since violence broke out, highlighted the dire situation, with thousands living in relief camps. He emphasized the need for peace and criticized the lack of progress.

Gandhi shared a five-minute video on X, stating that Manipur is divided into two parts and that there has been no improvement in the situation. He described the conditions in the relief camps, where houses are burning, innocent lives are in danger, and families are forced to live in camps.

During his visit, Gandhi listened to the concerns of the people in the relief camps. One woman demanded security and expressed a desire to return home. Another woman criticized the lack of visits from Chief Minister Biren Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Earlier, Gandhi met with the victims of violence and Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey. He expressed his displeasure over the lack of progress and emphasized the need for peace. Gandhi urged everyone to think about peace and brotherhood, stating that violence and hatred will not solve the issues.

Violence erupted in Manipur on May 3 last year following clashes during a rally organized by the All Tribals Students Union (ATSU) to protest against the demand for the inclusion of the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe category.
