Congress leader Rahul Gandhi spoke with the victims of the Rajkot Gaming Zone fire through a video call. He assured them that the Congress party stands with them and will pressure the government for a thorough investigation and proper compensation.

The fire broke out on May 25 in Rajkot, Gujarat, resulting in the tragic loss of 27 lives, including children. The main accused, Dhaval Thakkar, who worked at the Rajkot TRP game zone, was arrested after fleeing the scene.

Following the incident, all gaming zones in Vadodara were inspected and temporarily shut down. The Gujarat High Court has questioned why only junior officers were suspended and not higher officials like the city municipal commissioner. A plea has been filed to include 13 more officers in the investigation.

The Gujarat government has already suspended seven officials, including two police inspectors and civic staff of Rajkot Municipal Corporation, for dereliction of duty related to the fire incident.
