Rahul Gandhi Meets Farmers After Initial Entry Denial in Parliament
A group of 12 farmer leaders visited Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, at Parliament House. Initially, they were not allowed entry, but were later permitted after Rahul Gandhi intervened. He suggested that the denial might have been because they are farmers.
During the meeting, other Congress leaders like KC Venugopal, Raja Brar, and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa were also present. The farmers are urging Rahul Gandhi to introduce a private member bill to address their demands, including legalizing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) guarantee.
Meanwhile, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha announced plans to burn effigies of the Union government and stage protests, including a tractor rally on August 15, Independence Day. They will also hold rallies in Haryana in September to support their cause.
