Rahul Gandhi Faces Criticism from BJP Leaders Over Remarks on Hindus and Agniveer Scheme

New Delhi, July 1: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a strong attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his comments on the Hindu community, the Agniveer scheme, and Ayodhya compensation. Home Minister Amit Shah demanded an apology from Gandhi, stating that linking violence with any religion is wrong.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also criticized Gandhi, calling his remarks about the Hindu community serious. BJP President JP Nadda accused Gandhi of spreading lies and showing hatred towards Hindus, demanding an immediate apology.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw criticized Gandhi for making irresponsible statements about the Agniveer scheme, clarifying that martyrs under the scheme receive compensation. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also condemned Gandhi’s speech, with Yadav calling for Gandhi’s resignation.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also criticized Gandhi, accusing him of attacking Hindus and misleading people. Gandhi had targeted the BJP-led government over the Agniveer scheme, claiming that Agniveers do not receive pensions and are not called martyrs.

Gandhi also referred to the Hindu symbol ‘Abhayamudra’ as the symbol of the Congress party, emphasizing non-violence and fearlessness.
