Rahul Gandhi Donates Salary to Help Wayanad Flood Victims

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP, has donated his entire month’s salary to aid the relief and rehabilitation efforts for flood victims in Wayanad, Kerala. He urged everyone to contribute to help rebuild the lives of those affected by the disaster.

In a post on X, Gandhi said, “Our brothers and sisters in Wayanad have endured a devastating tragedy, and they need our support to recover from the unimaginable losses they have faced. I have donated my entire month’s salary to aid in the relief and rehabilitation efforts of those affected. I sincerely urge all fellow Indians to contribute whatever they can–every little bit makes a difference.”

He also emphasized the importance of revitalizing tourism in Wayanad, stating that the landslide was localized to a specific area and not the entire region. “Wayanad remains a stunning destination and will soon be ready to welcome tourists from across India and the world with all its natural charm,” he added.

Gandhi discussed the need for better interdepartmental coordination, adequate compensation, and support for those who lost their livelihoods. He highlighted that the region is steadily recovering and that collective efforts are crucial for its revival.

A study by World Weather Attribution (WWA) found that the landslides in Wayanad, which killed hundreds, were triggered by a burst of rainfall made about 10 percent heavier by human-caused climate change.
