The Lok Sabha was adjourned until July 1 after Opposition members, led by Rahul Gandhi, demanded a discussion on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Speaker Om Birla declined the request, leading to an uproar.

Rahul Gandhi’s Request: Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, emphasized the need for a respectful discussion on NEET, highlighting its importance for the youth. He urged the Prime Minister to participate in the discussion.

Government’s Response: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized the Congress for halting proceedings and assured that the government is always ready for discussion.

CBI Investigation: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating alleged irregularities in the NEET 2024 exam, which saw 67 candidates achieve perfect scores, sparking protests. The Ministry of Education has formed a high-level committee to recommend reforms in the examination process.
