Rahul Gandhi Stands Up for Babasaheb Ambedkar
In New Delhi, on November 7, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, responded to remarks made by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Fadnavis had referred to certain ideas as ‘Naxalite,’ which Gandhi saw as an insult to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the creator of the Indian Constitution.
Gandhi emphasized that the people of Maharashtra, along with the Congress and Maha Vikas Aghadi, will not tolerate any disrespect towards Babasaheb Ambedkar. He assured that they would defend the Constitution against any attacks.
Gandhi criticized the BJP’s stance, stating that their attempts to undermine the Constitution would fail. He reiterated the importance of a caste census, which he believes is crucial for upholding the values of the Constitution.
Earlier, Fadnavis accused Gandhi of being disloyal to the Constitution during a ‘Samvidhan Sammelan’ in Maharashtra. He claimed that Gandhi’s actions were a ploy to seek support from urban naxals and anarchists.
As Maharashtra prepares for elections on November 20, with results on November 23, the political climate remains tense.
