Rahul Gandhi Criticizes Modi’s Policies and Promises Jobs and Support in Haryana
Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 27: Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP), Rahul Gandhi, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Centre for what he called a ‘monopoly model,’ which he claims has led to job losses and hurt small businesses. He stated, ‘Modi ji’s monopoly model has taken away jobs, devastated MSMEs, and deprived people of opportunity. India deserves better.’
Rahul Gandhi was speaking with business owners and professionals in Jammu, where he discussed the reasons for unemployment in the country. He emphasized that India’s vast skill set is being undermined by big monopolies, which he believes are exacerbating the unemployment situation. He also criticized policies like demonetization, import duties, and GST, claiming they were designed to economically harm people.
He called for simplifying GST and opening up the banking system to small businesses to promote job creation. ‘India has a huge set of skills, India is not the government of India, India is ‘you.’ The simple biggest reason in my view as to why we are having unemployment is because the basic structure of employment, which is smaller and bigger businesses, is under severe attack from 5-10 really big monopolies,’ he said.
Rahul Gandhi also shared a clip of his interaction on social media, highlighting the struggles of entrepreneurs and small-business owners. He stated, ‘The frustration in the eyes of a young startup owner from J&K reflects the struggles of most entrepreneurs and small-business owners in India. Modi ji’s monopoly model has taken away jobs, devastated MSMEs, and deprived people of opportunity.’
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi criticized the BJP-led Haryana government for the lack of employment opportunities, leading to youth migration. He shared the story of a boy named Dev, whose father migrated to America, leaving him behind. ‘Dev’s trembling cry – ‘Papa, come back!’ – was heart-wrenching,’ he said.
Rahul Gandhi promised several measures ahead of the Haryana assembly elections, including financial support for women, jobs for the youth, and a Minimum Support Prices (MSP) guarantee for farmers. He also promised housing for the poor and free electricity. Haryana will go to polls on October 5, with the counting set to take place on October 8.
