Rahul Gandhi Criticizes BJP and RSS During US Visit
Virginia [US], September 10: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during an event with the Indian diaspora in Herndon, Virginia. He stated that the ruling party does not understand that India is for everyone, while the RSS believes only one ideology is important.
Using a food plate analogy, Gandhi highlighted India’s diversity, saying, “In India, everything works together…if someone sits in front of Thali and says chawal (rice) is more important than Dal (pulses) and sabji (vegetable) is the least important, then what will happen? That’s what BJP does.” He emphasized that India is a “union of states,” which means a union of different traditions and histories.
Gandhi further alleged that the RSS considers certain states, languages, religions, and communities inferior to others. He questioned how people would feel if they were told they could not speak their native languages like Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, or Manipuri.
He concluded by stating that the fight is about what type of India will emerge: one where people can believe what they want or one where only a few decide the future. Rahul Gandhi is on a three-day visit to the US, where he also visited Dallas and Washington DC, interacting with students, teachers, and the Indian diaspora.
