Rahul Gandhi Criticizes Agnipath Scheme and Promises Support for Haryana Farmers and Women

Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, criticized the central government’s Agnipath scheme during a rally in Ambala, Haryana. He claimed that the scheme aims to take away pensions from Agniveers to benefit Adani. Gandhi stated, ‘Normal Jawan will be entitled to pension for all his life… but those with Agniveer tag will not get pension…which means money has been snatched from Agniveer’s pocket…it has gone to Adani’s pocket.’

He further accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of working only for the rich, saying, ‘Whatever Modi ji is doing is only for the rich people.’ Gandhi also promised that if Congress comes to power in Haryana, they will provide guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers, Rs 2000 to women under the Mahila Shakti Yojana, and jobs for two lakh youths. He emphasized that these jobs would be distributed equally among all castes and sections of society and promised to conduct a Caste Census in the state.

Gandhi urged voters to support Congress in the upcoming Haryana elections on October 5, where the main contest is between Congress and BJP. In the 2019 elections, BJP secured 40 seats while Congress won 30 seats. The counting of votes will take place on October 8.
