Rahul Gandhi Begins US Visit with Warm Welcome in Dallas

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, arrived in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday for a three-day visit to the United States. He was warmly welcomed at the airport by Sam Pitroda, Chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, and members of the Indian diaspora.

Gandhi expressed his excitement for engaging in meaningful discussions to strengthen the bond between the United States and India. He was greeted with bouquets and performed aarti upon his arrival. In a Facebook post, Gandhi said, ‘I am truly delighted by the warm welcome I’ve received in Dallas, Texas, USA, from the Indian Diaspora and members of the Indian Overseas Congress.’

During his visit, Gandhi will hold meetings and interactions in Washington, DC, and Dallas, including at the University of Texas. Sam Pitroda mentioned that this is Gandhi’s first visit to the US after becoming the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Pitroda highlighted the high interest from various groups, including diplomats, academicians, and businessmen, in interacting with Gandhi.

Gandhi’s schedule includes interactions with University of Texas students, academicians, community members, and technocrats in Dallas. He will also have a dinner with local leaders. In Washington, DC, he will meet with think tanks, the national press club, and other groups.

In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi won two constituencies, Rae Bareli and Wayanad, but resigned from the Wayanad seat. His sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is likely to contest a bypoll for that seat. Earlier this year, the Congress Working Committee appointed Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha.
