Rahul Gandhi and PM Modi Respond to Hathras Stampede Tragedy

A tragic stampede occurred at a religious event in Hathras district, leading to 116 deaths and 18 injuries. Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi emphasized the need for sensitive government assistance and offered his condolences to the affected families.

Chaitra V, Commissioner of Aligarh, confirmed the death toll and the number of injured. Aligarh IG Shalabh Mathur stated that the deceased are being sent for post-mortem and that an FIR is being registered against the event organizers for exceeding the permitted number of attendees. A high-level inquiry has been ordered.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He assured that the Uttar Pradesh government is providing all possible help to the victims. CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered a thorough investigation and dispatched senior officials to the site. The Uttar Pradesh government announced a compensation of 2 Lakh for the families of the deceased.

Hathras District Magistrate Ashish Kumar mentioned that the event was private and had received permission from the SDM. A high-level committee has been formed to investigate the incident, with the primary focus on helping the injured and the families of the deceased.
