Rahul Gandhi and INDIA Bloc Celebrate Big Wins in Assembly Bypolls
The recent assembly bypoll results were a major setback for the BJP, which managed to win only 2 out of 13 seats. The INDIA bloc, a coalition of opposition parties, secured an impressive 10 seats, while an independent candidate won a seat in Bihar.
Congress Gains in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand
Congress won 2 out of 3 seats in Himachal Pradesh and 2 seats in Uttarakhand. This has strengthened the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government in Himachal Pradesh, which now has 40 MLAs compared to BJP’s 28. The Congress had previously failed to win any seats in these states during the Lok Sabha polls.
Leaders React
Congress leader KC Venugopal criticized the BJP, stating that the bypoll results are a victory for democracy and a rejection of BJP’s divisive politics. He highlighted that the INDIA alliance’s success demonstrates the public’s disapproval of BJP’s policies.
Rahul Gandhi also targeted the BJP, saying that the results reflect the people’s desire to end dictatorship and establish justice. He emphasized that various classes, including farmers and youth, are standing with the INDIA bloc.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge asserted that the bypoll results show the declining political credibility of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra congratulated the winning candidates and expressed happiness over the support for the INDIA alliance.
